Thors' bloody stump

How I did it.

The dripping bloody stump.

First I built up and painted Thor complete with arm intact. I wanted to make sure the kits would look good as a dio.

Once the decision was made I began cutting his arm off with the little hack saw I use on my kits (don't have a dremal tool). But half way through the arm I stopped, thinking that if it were bitten off by the War Beast , a nice clean cut was the last thing I would want. I needed some torn bloody flesh!

I quickly grabbed my trusty dikes and started to bend the plastic back and forth adding a bit of twisting action, then tore the piece off leaving a ragged edge to both pieces.

Puddle of blood

Now what I needed was some protruding bone.
I scaned my work bench... I could sculpt them with sculpey, I thought. Then my eyes spotted my PL "Forgotten Prizoner" kit sitting on the self. The extra skeletal arm chained to the wall at the bottom would be perfecto.
I grabbed it and quickly cut the hand off and then cut it in two. I crammed the two oposing pieces in to the severed arm pieces making sure my angled cut matched up and than applied the glue. The bones were already painted an aged off white with rotting bood stains and flesh, so they didn't need much work.

I began painting by first painting the very edge o f the ripped flesh a crimsin red, not being to careful and leting the paint run a bit like blood does. I also so painted the inside of the arms with this color. Then coted it with Krylon glaze finish (heavy). After that was dry I used my dark flesh wash (very heavy) inside the arm, adding another cote of krylon glaze when dry. I kept alternating the red paint and the dark wash until I got the affect I wanted then coted all with the Glaze again.

For the dripping blood affect I used several aplications of crazy glue letting it run and harden, then painted it.

The puddle of blood where his arm and hammer lay was acheaved by pouring raw crimsin paint and leting it harden a bit then adding the dark wash (dabling here and there) This looked very nice and grizzly but the pics don't show it well. This also was coted with Krylon glaze.
